Help practice conversational English and writing in small group or 1:1 tutoring sessions.
PODER is an immigrant integration and career pathways center that empowers Spanish-speaking immigrants to seize opportunities throughout Chicagoland.
*Volunteer tutors work with adult language learners in small groups or one-on-one tutoring sessions.
*Student members in Integrated English get additional help with particular grammar points or lessons from the textbook outside of class for extra language acquisition.
*Weekend Conversation Club and Writing Club are for mixed-level practice speaking and writing about various topics.
We provide orientation, training, and Integrated English textbooks, worksheets, and online activities.
Scheduling is flexible (daytime, evening, weekend). Volunteers can adjust meeting times, or drop in to the weekend clubs when available. We appreciate volunteers who can commit to 10-12 weeks of once-a-week sessions during an Integrated English trimester.
Volunteer tutors will complete an online self-paced 12-hour training.
