Volunteer: Grocery Store Gift Cards for Domestic Violence Survivors

The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently announced that Illinois residents who receive federal food aid will not receive their November benefits due to the ongoing federal shutdown. This decision will directly affect many survivors of domestic violence and their families.

SNAP benefits are a vital source of consistent food assistance, especially for families rebuilding stability after abuse. At Anew: Building Beyond Violence and Abuse, we are preparing to help our clients bridge this critical gap — but we need your support.

You can make a difference today by donating grocery store gift cards. Gift cards provide survivors with autonomy, dignity, and flexibility to meet their family’s needs. Donations of $15, $20, $25, or any amount will go a long way in easing the financial strain during this uncertain time.

If you or your organization would like to donate, please contact our office at (708) 794-2140, ext. 311.

Thank you for standing with survivors and helping ensure families have access to the essentials they need.

With gratitude,

Volunteer: Supplies for Domestic Violence Survivors

The survivors of Anew are always in need of gift cards to help with the purchase of gas, groceries, and prescription medication.  Donors and volunteers sometimes create donation drives to also help with household cleaning products, and paper products such as paper towels and toilet paper.  Our survivors are also, in need of nonperishable foods and snacks for their children.  Those items can include applesauce, juice, cases of water, pasta, canned tomato sauce, rice, etc.  All of these are staples for our pantry for the transitional housing and clients of our counseling program.
