Chicago Food Rescue

Who We Are

Chicago Food Rescue is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to bridge the gap between food waste and food insecurity in our city.

What We Do

We make it easy for volunteers to increase access to nutritious food and reduce environmental impact by rescuing surplus food and delivering it directly to organizations that feed individuals and communities in need.

How it works:

  1. Get the App – Volunteers download the Chicago Food Rescue app and create an account.
  2. Claim a Rescue – Find a rescue, either recurring or one-time, that works for you and fits your schedule.
  3. Pickup the Food Donation - The app will give you instructions on where to pick up and who to contact when you arrive.
  4. Deliver to Those in Need – Drop the food off at the nonprofit recipient.
